The veil is thin between worlds and as a guide for souls on either side I’ve teamed up with my good pal Frank Ramos (https://www.mixcloud.com/frankramos1232/) and my fellow UK broadcast cohort Atom Heart Mutha (https://www.mixcloud.com/hrhatomheartmutha/) for a scary good Halloween special as the Freelance Fiends.
There’s some new stuff and some old stuff but the focus is providing mood music for your night’s wicked adventures.
Have fun. Stay safe. Get weird.

If you’ve listened to the show at all since I started spinning newer stuff, you’ve likely heard a LOT of tunes from this label. Since it’s near the end of the year I thought I’d take a show and pay tribute to the great releases this Brooklyn-based distributor has been putting out the last few years. So strap in for a MAJOR psychedelic journey, and if you dig what you hear you can get it in all forms over at http://beyondbeyondisbeyond.com!

Frank and I have known each other since I started at BBOX, so just under 3 years, and every time we get together we end up talking at length about the music we love. We’ve been sharing music back and forth since we first met, and I had the idea that maybe we could do a couple of crossover shows.
So a couple of weeks ago, we decided that I’d come on his show (Maximum Insight, 8-10pm EST every Friday) and he’d come on mine, and we’d do something I coined as “Split the Decks.” Each of us would bring in a random selection of vinyl without the other one knowing what it was, each of us would get one turntable and we’d switch off. Frank picked a track, and based on his pick I’d have to pick the next, and so on and so on.
These two shows were the result, and it was quite a ride. It’s probably the most fun I’ve had doing the live show. Here are both episodes for your listening pleasure, full playlists after the jump…
