Matt and I go back a ways. We both like rock music, and we both really like NYC bands. We share them! Together!
Big love to Matt and Radio Free Brooklyn for having me by! Enjoy!

Big love to my pal Kurtis of the Face Radio for having me on his show this last weekend for tunes and talk. Here’s a listen:
The veil is thin between worlds and as a guide for souls on either side I’ve teamed up with my good pal Frank Ramos (https://www.mixcloud.com/frankramos1232/) and my fellow UK broadcast cohort Atom Heart Mutha (https://www.mixcloud.com/hrhatomheartmutha/) for a scary good Halloween special as the Freelance Fiends.
There’s some new stuff and some old stuff but the focus is providing mood music for your night’s wicked adventures.
Have fun. Stay safe. Get weird.

Brooklyn fuzz-rockers Sun Voyager rip it up tonight (Sat. 10/14) at Knitting Factory BK in support of the Swedish hard rock group Truck Fighters!
You should go. I’m going. Let’s meet up.
My pal Matt, host of the Rodent Hour on Radio Free Brooklyn, was kind enough to have me on his live show this past week to hang out with 2/3 of Sun Voyager and chat about the band’s first full-length in the works, our favorite Brooklyn bands, and of course Canadian Thanksgiving. It was fun! Have a listen before we all head to Knitting Factory tonight.
Back at our old BBOX Radio stomping grounds, Frank Ramos, Tony Conquerrah and I reunited for an all-vinyl special of summer sounds from rock, disco, funk, world, psych and more. Ideal for throwing windows open and getting the neighborhood involved. SWEAT BABY SWEAT

This past Monday I was lucky enough to get invited to my pal Matt’s show The Rodent Hour over at Radio Free Brooklyn. The musical guest that night was Cinema Cinema, a pair of hardcore and hilarious rockers promoting their new album, Man Bites Dog.
The band have been on Rodent Hour quite a bit, and I’ve known Matt for a while so bad jokes and banter abound alongside tracks from some great Brooklyn bands. Tune in, have a blast, and dig on Cinema Cinema, baby!
Whenever Frank Ramos and I get together I always learn something. We went record shopping a couple months ago and he just kept handing me records and saying “You’ll like this.” And goddamnit, I did. I liked all of it.
Our shared passion for music has made for a fun friendship over the last few years, and Frank brought his usual good taste to the decks filling in for me on Old Time Religion today. A mix of funk, psychedelia, classic ’60s pop, jazz and even punk awaits your ears and it’s fantastic.
Like what you hear? Check out the special Split The Decks series Frank and I teamed up for last year, and dig his regular show Maximum Insight every Friday night, 8-10pmEST on BBOXRadio.com.

After a great Split The Decks episode a couple of months ago, Tony Conquerrah’s back and filling in as guest host while I’m out of town.
Our nation is upside down once again with racial violence and more questions than answers, and Tony’s here to bring some light to the darkness with an all-vinyl mix of everything from to jazz, soul, funk and calypso, ska and reggae. He’s a goddamn pro (taught me more than a few things) and it shows in this phenomenal set.
Tune in and get some soul healing. As the man said himself, “…that’s the beautiful thing about music. Music erases all borders and it doesn’t matter where you’re from. You feel it and you know it.”
BIG BIG thanks to Tony, and make sure to check him out every week on Shanty Town (Thursdays 10pm-midnight on BBOX Radio) and see where he’s spinning around NYC by following him on Instagram!

Every summer I go on vacation with my kids for a month or so, and in the past I’ve just aired a bunch of prerecorded shows during the month of July. This year, though, I had the opportunity to try something I’ve always loved hearing on radio: the Special Guest Host.
This week Kurtis Powers (The Face Radio, Loaded NYC) brings his Mod sensibilities to bear on Old Time Religion. Ever since we met at one of his Northern Soul club nights some years back, Kurtis and I have shared a passion for drawing comparisons between the classic sounds of the ’60s and their influence on the modern day. We also share the distinction of having our shows air on BBOX Radio and alternately on Affinity Radio as well. He’s a great guy, and been a good friend to me personally and a big supporter of the show.
Kurtis approaches today’s set with a mellow opening act followed by some, as he always says, real blinders in the second hour. Full of soul, mod, psych rock and garage, this is one set you don’t want to miss!
Big love and many thanks to Kurtis for filling in, check him out live every week on the Face Radio, Sundays 4-6pmEST on BBOXRadio.com, every Saturday 8-10pmGMT on AffinityRadio.net, and every first Thursday in NYC at his brit-pop club night, Loaded NYC.
